Several fires have been set and the fire department came out

Lloyd. Not the greatest kind of excitement one wants. The RM fire truck had arrived but the dead leaves and that in the bush were burning. That poplar fluff burns fast.

Your contact info was given to me by one of your coworkers near the Little Mountain Park Klimpke Road parking lot. She wanted me to contact you with information I know about the fire in LMP that happened around 1:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. today.

The fire started on the Oak Trail heading south from the Klimpke Parking lot (just north to where the name Oak Hut is on the attached map). I was walking my dog and as I came around the bend on the trail and I saw two guys laughing. They were standing just on the upwind side of a fire line of Poplar fluff. There was only about a few feet between them and the fire line. The fluff flames were only about 4 inches off the ground but it was moving reasonably fast towards me (in a southerly direction) in a concentric circle that also went into the bush. As soon as they saw me, they quickly went back on the trail towards Klimpke Parking lot. I didn’t see them actually start the fluff on fire, but no doubt they did because where they were and how fast the fire line was moving. Unfortunately, I could not follow them fast enough back to the parking lot and get a description of their vehicle because my dog would not jump over the fire line. He went into the bush and found a route around the fire line. However, by that time all I could hear was a vehicle engine revving fairly high and leaving the parking lot.

The one chap that I got the best look at seemed like he would be in his 30s, about 5’ 9” to 5’ 11” tall. He was wearing a baseball style cap and had a black kind of scruffy beard that was very short. He appeared to be a brown skinned person or someone with a deeper tan. I never took a good look at the other chap other than he appeared to be slenderer and maybe slightly taller. Unfortunately, I was too focussed on the fire line.
